About Us
Who We Are
Transforming lives through kidney health awareness, education, and compassionate support across Nigeria.
Our Story
From Personal Journey to National Impact
The Kidney Life Awareness Foundation, a registered charitable entity in Nigeria (CAC registration number RC:128274), was established to promote awareness regarding kidney health.
Founded by Mrs. Okponwa Ijeoma Ella, who is not only a survivor of kidney failure but also a Certified Kidney Health Coach associated with the American Kidney Fund, the organization emerged from her personal experiences with kidney disease.
In February 2014, Mrs. Ijeoma was diagnosed with kidney disease, leading to dialysis from March 2014 until her transplant in January 2016. Facing a life-threatening condition and immense financial strain, she realized the critical importance of awareness and early action—information she wished she'd had at the start of her journey.
Through her recovery, Mrs. Ijeoma's passion grew to create a lasting impact by educating others, in order to reduce the risks of undiagnosed kidney disease, and supporting those affected by it. The Kidney Life Awareness Foundation embodies this mission, aiming to transform lives by fostering a well-informed society equipped to prevent and manage kidney disease.
